A more cost effective alternative to car hire company insurance
If you are able to hire a car on an exclusive basis, no car rental insurance is included in the car rental price. This is usually the case when hiring a car in the USA & Canada, Israel, Caribbean, South & Central America (you should check with the car rental company especially when renting a car in South & Central America).
If you hire a on an exclusive basis it is necessary to purchase CDW/LDW and Supplementary Liability Insurance (SLI). CDW/LDW cover damage, loss of use and theft of the rental vehicles, and SLI covers the renters liabilities to third parties.

OUR POLICY COVERS:
• Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI) covering third party up to US $1 million
• Collision Damage Waiver/Loss Damage waiver (CDW/LW) – covering damage, theft and loss of use of the rental vehicle- up to $US 80,000
• Excess if excess is charged (it is just starting to be charged in the USA, it is more widely charged in Canada)
• Damage to windows, roof, tyres & wheels and the undercarriage
HOW THE POLICY WORKS
You must show the Policy to the car rental company when you rent a car. If you have a claim, it is unlikely that your credit card will be charged, unless the amount is small. It is more likely that the car rental company will make direct contact with our Claims Management Company, whose details are contained in your Policy document.
We do not recommend this policy for use with Fly Drive programmes (a package that includes a flight and possibly a hotel, with car rental included at minimal or no cost). If you are doing a Fly Drive programme it would be sensible to contact the car rental company, tell them you can provide your own insurance, and confirm that they will accept it.
